Sarah Rebell is an arts journalist and musical theatre writer. She was a 2020 National Critics Institute Fellow at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. Prior to that, she spent three years as a contributing staff writer for the feminist theatrical publication, The Interval. Additional bylines include American Theatre, Hey Alma, Howlround, Maestra, New York Theatre Guide, TDF Stages, TheaterMania, and Women and Hollywood.

 

Sarah's work as a lyricist and bookwriter includes The Awakening (music by Teresa Lotz), Off the Wall (music by Danny Abosch), and Rose Petals (music by Lizzie Hagstedt). She was the co-writer (along with Steve Schonberg) of the Target ALS tribute concert Becca: A Night of Stories and Song in Memory of Rebecca Luker. Sarah is also the creator of The Rebecca Luker Oral History project, which honors the beloved performer's legacy in the theater community.

 

Workshops/Readings: Prospect Theater Company, Playwrights Horizons, Musical Theatre Factory, Stages Festival of New Musicals, Fingerlakes Musical Theatre Festival, and NYMF. Her songs have been performed in concerts at 54 Below, Catalina Jazz Club, the D-Lounge, the Duplex, the Laurie Beechman Theatre, the Metropolitan Room, and the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
